Les Waldie Les Waldie  Chair

Les and his wife Carol have lived in Prince George since 1974. Les' career as an HR professional was largely in the forest industry. He also worked in health care for three years until his retirement in August 2007.

Les is a strong community supporter and over the years has held executive positions with the Babe Ruth Baseball Association, The Prince George Symphony Orchestra, was on two Boards that hosted the BC Festival of Arts in Prince George, and is currently President of the Prince George Community Foundation, board member with the Prince George Regional Performing Arts Centre and board member with the Prince George Airport Authority. He is also past President of the BC Human Resources Management Association.

Les and Carol have two children – in Prince George Troy with wife Marlo who is also a member of the Host Committee, and in Calgary Karla with husband Gordon. Les and Carol have 5 grandchildren, Cole and Grace in Prince George and Reid, Quinn and Chelsea in Calgary.

 

Helene Rohn Helene Rohn  Vice President and Director of Administration

For the past 20 years Helene has been quite involved with event planning in Prince George. She has been involved with the coordination of events such as 1998 BC Festival of the Arts, the annual Walk for ALS, The Forest Expo, and the Northern BC Winter Games. Helene was also the chair of the 2002 BC Senior Games held in Prince George. On top of her volunteer work she owns the “Creative Show” a Sewing, Quilting and creative show in Prince George. Helene’s hobbies include teaching children and adults the art of sewing.

 

Frank Blues Frank Blues  Director of Transportation

Born and raised in Scotland, Frank immigrated to Canada (British Columbia) in 1981. He moved to Prince George in 1985 and has worked with the City of Prince George in various positions in Public Works since that time. Frank likes to remain active and is a keen recreational athlete.

 

Myrna CableMyrna Cable  Director of Protocol

Myrna has been married to her husband Tony for 35 years. They have two sons, Shawn and Scott. The Cable family has lived in the North for 35 years, with 6 years in Mackenzie and remainder in Prince George. Myrna works for the School District at Kelly Road Secondary School as a Teaching Assistant. She shares her volunteer time between Prince George Minor Lacrosse Association, Great White North Lacrosse Commission, Prince George Chapter of Kidsport and the Board of the Charles Jago Northern Sport Centre. In her spare time, Myrna enjoys golfing, crafts, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

 

David Fleck  Director of Food Services

David and his wife Isabelle have lived in for 28 years.  He worked as a Chef Instructor at the of for 22 years and has been retired for 5 years. David l oves Golf and Retirement.

 

Jim HorswellJim Horswell  Director of Sport

Jim is no stranger to the sporting scene in Prince George. Not only a passionate golfer, Jim finished 2nd place in the 1994 Canadian Men’s Senior Curling Championship, and was quite involved as a coach in the Babe Ruth Baseball League. He also served as the Vice President of Facilities for the 2000 Scott Tournament of Hearts held in Prince George.

 

Stan Hyatt Stan Hyatt  Director of Security

Stan was born in Ontario and moved to B.C. in 1974, relocating to Prince George in 1976 where he has lived ever since. He recently retired after working for over 30 years in the criminal justice system for the Provincial Government. Stan has enjoyed being involved with, and participating in a number of sports over the years. Currently he enjoys golf in the summer and ice hockey in the winter.

 

Neil King Neil King  Director of Volunteers

Neil is a long term resident of Prince George and is married to Darlene. They have 3 children and 6 grandchildren. Neil volunteers roles have included Chair of the 2000 Scott Tournament of Hearts, President of the Prince George Sports Hall of Fame and Past District Governor Rotary District 5040. His hobbies are golf, curling, woodworking and spending time at the lake.


Ted PerryTed Perry  Director of Friends of the Games

Ted was born in Newfoundland and worked in the Human Resources field in the Hydro Electric and Mining industries in Labrador, Nova Scotia and Yukon. He moved to Prince George in 1993 and worked as a Human Resource Manager in a number of Canfor divisions. Prior to his retirement in August 2007, Ted spent two years as Canfor’s General Manager, Community Relations for the Prince George Region.  

Ted attained the Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) designation in 1995 and is an active member of a number of community organizations including, Shriners of BC & Yukon & the Downtown Rotary Club. He serves on the boards of The Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation & Prince George Hospice Society.  He is a member of the Campaign Cabinet of the Prince George United Way and past Director of the Prince George Chamber of Commerce. He served on the Presidents Industry Advisory Council of the College of New Caledonia for two years and was the first recipient of CNC’s Industry Partner Award in 2005.

He and his wife Peggy have three adult children and recently became proud grandparents.

 

Scotty RaittScotty Raitt  Director of Registration & Results

Scotty has made Prince George his home since 1965.  He has 2 grown sons and is married to the light of his life Anna.  He retired from a 24-year career with School District No.57 (Prince George) in 2005.  Since retirement he has kept himself busy with presentation and coordination contract work and he serves on 2 other boards of directors in the community. Scotty’s hobbies include fishing, camping and gardening.

 

Finlay Sinclair   Director of Medical Services

Finlay is the Director of Business Development for Northern Health.  Finlay is also an Adjunct Professor at UNBC in the School of Planning and a Paramedic for the British Columbia Ambulance Service.

Finlay graduated from Simon Fraser University and has spent his entire professional life in British Columbia working for local governments throughout BC before moving into healthcare last year

Finlay was the Medical Director for the 2007 Royal Rank Cup and is the Medical Director for the 2009 World Baseball Challenge. Finlay was the President of the Planning Institute of BC from 2005-2007 and is a member of the Yellowhead Rotary Club in Prince George.  Finlay is also a member of Progress PG and the Prince George Chamber of Commerce.

Finlay and his wife Michele have four children and enjoy the wonderful lifestyle offered in Prince George and Northern BC.

 

Frank TalaricoFrank Talarico  Director of Communications

Frank was born and raised in Ontario, relocating to Vancouver Island 13 years ago. He and his wife Darlene have lived in Prince George for the last 5 years. Frank has made a career in the human resource, health and safety field for the last 23 years and is currently employed as the Director, Workplace Health and Safety for the Northern Health Authority.

He is a member of the Canadian Society of Safety Engineers, Prince George Chapter and is on the Board of Directors for the BC Council on Substance Abuse.

 

Marlo WaldieMarlo Waldie  Director of Ceremonies & Special Events

Marlo started organizing special events in 1996 with the Northern BC Winter Games. Since then Marlo has directed Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat for Excalibur Theatre Arts Co , Co-chaired the annual 2005 and 2006 Dinner Dance Auction for the Montessori Education Society and have been responsible for  Ceremonies and Special Events for the 2001 Air Canada Cup, 2002 Senior Mens Canadian Baseball Nationals, 2002 Prince George BC Seniors Games;  2006 Senior Mens Canadian Fastball Nationals, and the Opening Ceremony for 2007 RBC Royal Bank Cup and is currently working on the Dinner Dance for Forest Expo and happy to be working on the 2008 Prince George BC Seniors Games.

 

Sandy Whitwham Sandy Whitwham  Director of Promotions

Sandy has worked for over 22 years in various positions within the Media and communications environment. She has held positions as a radio creative writer, promotions director, communications and community relations director as well as in media sales and management. She took a 4 year hiatus from Media to work for Big Brothers Big Sisters as their Executive Director and is currently the General Sales Manager at 94X and The Wolf, a division of Vista Radio. Over the years she has held several positions on committees and boards, the most recent as a Director on the College of New Caledonia Board. Sandy has lived in Prince George for 16 years and enjoys downhill skiing and golfing with her husband Rob and daughter Carlie.

Cheryl Livingstone-Leman   City of Prince George Liaison

Cheryl is the City of Prince George Staff Liaison for the Prince George BC Seniors Games.  Her role is to help facilitate the Games from a City perspective.  Her regular position as a Community Services Coordinator has her working in the areas of civic pride, city beautification projects, and grass roots sport programs. Cheryl is very much enjoying working with the Prince George BC Seniors Games Committee and, although not yet a senior herself, she is highly supportive of fitness programs for all ages. Cheryl has a sport background in Track & Field and received a full scholarship to Washington State University, where she ran in the middle distance events and competed in the Canadian Olympic Trials in the 1500m.
